What if I experience financial hardship and have trouble paying my COPIC premium? 
We understand that the current situation creates uncertainty and will impact our insureds in different ways. COPIC remains committed to our insureds during these challenging times - please contact your agent or COPIC underwriter to discuss options. 

We will remain in compliance with the Departments of Insurance (DOI) for individual states which have issued guidance on policy premium payments during the COVID-19 emergency.

Electronic Payment Options
COPIC has updated our electronic billing and payment service to offer more convenient options for managing your account. You may make your payment by credit card or bank transfer through the COPIC website at www.CallCOPIC.com. Log in to the Service Center using your username/password, and under the Policy Information drop-down, select Billing Information or simply click on the green Pay Now button.

Does my policy cover me for claims involving COVID-19?
COPIC’s policy covers claims resulting from the delivery of professional medical services, by you or any person under your supervision, including telemedicine, medical treatment and diagnoses, and rendering medical opinions or medical advice, unless an exclusion applies. Without knowing the specific allegations, COPIC cannot definitively state whether a claim is covered, but most claims alleging negligence in the delivery of medical services would be covered, including those related to COVID-19.

Am I covered for telemedicine under my COPIC policy?
Covered claims (see above) involving the use of telemedicine to deliver medical services are generally covered. State medical licensing laws, regulations, and rules may apply. 

Will my policy provide coverage for volunteer work?
Yes, if you are an active policyholder with COPIC. 

Am I covered if I temporarily provide medical care outside of my specialty due to COVID-19?
Your policy indicates, in part, that COPIC will pay damages that you are obligated to pay as a result of a claim arising from your provision of medical services within the limits of your professional license, including telemedicine, medical treatment and diagnoses, and rendering medical opinions or medical advice. 

We encourage our insureds to maintain a proper review of training, knowledge, experience, medical judgment, and personal comfort when considering any scope changes. Please contact your agent or COPIC underwriter to address any changes.

If practice activities and/or procedures are reduced or eliminated, are policy adjustments available?
You are not required to notify us if there is a temporary reduction in your hours or procedures. However, if there are significant changes that we should consider for a policy adjustment(s), please contact your agent or underwriter to discuss options. 

Physicians providing professional services to a COPIC policyholder due to COVID-19
**These policies will remain in-force until 6/30/2021. 


COPIC has set up a COVID-19 Physician Program policy for each of our states that will provide temporary liability coverage. This policy will be available for physicians who do not have other available insurance coverage, and who are not currently a covered physician under a COPIC policy who will be providing professional services to a COPIC-insured practice or facility to assist with medical services in response to COVID-19 in your community.

The following information and limitations will apply:
• Physician must have a valid, unrestricted license; state or federal waiver may apply
• COVID-19 Physician Policy for each state will be valid from 3/16/2020 to 6/30/2021
• Coverage is limited to physicians providing medical services to COPIC-insured practices/facilities
• COPIC will provide the minimum policy limits required, or $1M/$3M, whichever is less
• No additional premium will be required as this is being considered as an extension of coverage
     o COPIC will not be responsible for any premiums due to any Patient Compensation Funds, if required
     o Tail coverage will be included as part of the policy
• Coverage will be conditioned upon affirmation that physicians are providing professional medical services in response to COVID-19
• A short application is required to determine eligibility
